Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents his first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
